■Y/N's POV■

Rengoku: I love you Y/N...

I look up at Kyoujuro san. He reaches out a hand to me.

Kyoujuro: after I'm back from this mission... I'm going to ask your hand in marriage... let me have you as my wife... I promise...

I could feel tears rolled down my cheeks and I take his hand in mind.

Y/N: yes...

Suddenly the scene changed. Everyone is running in one direction and I follow them, there I see a boy with brown hair and a scar, a blonde boy, and one who's wearing a pig mask. They're all look at me and they cry.

When the boy with the scar moves aside, my heart skips a beat. Kyoujuro san is looking at me with a smile, a huge wound on his abdomen. I run his way and fell on my knees in front of him.

My hands reach out to hold his face, as he leans and presses his cheeks into my hand. I could feel my heart clench, somehow knowing that we will be apart. My mouth moves on its own now, as I speak to the guy.

Y/N: Rengoku san...

Rengoku: Please... call me by my name...

Tears roll down my cheek and fall to the ground stained by Kyoujuro san's blood.

Y/N: Kyou...juro san...

Rengoku: I'm sorry... but... I will fulfill my promise... in another life... 

With that, his hand fell and I know he's gone.

The scene changes again

I was running with all of the people who wear the same clothes as me. And then a hideous creature appears and lunges at me. I guess this is where my life ends.

Bip bip bip

I woke up sweating a lot, my body feels like burning.

That dream...

Shiro gets inside my room and walks closer to my bed.

Shiro: Y/N nee, you alright? You are crying in your sleep... and, you don't look good...

Shiro places a hand on my forehead and his eyes widened.

Shiro: You can't go to work... you have a high fever... rest, I'm going to call your office...

Y/N: okay... thank you Shiro...

I lay on my back again and pull the cover. I think about the dream that I've been having.

The man in my dream... is he the same person as my Kyoujuro san?

My heart always aches after I have that dream. Why did I feel like I forget something?

I drift back to sleep.

■Rengoku's POV■

I look at Shiro as he tells me that Y/N is sick. That's why she doesn't reply to my text this morning. I turn around and about to leave.

Shiro: sensei... no matter how much you love my sister, don't neglect your duty as a teacher... the school is not over yet..

I was startled  I forgot that I'm currently working and still have classes to teach. I lean back against the window again next to Shiro.

Rengoku: Sorry... I'm... worried...

Shiro smiles at me and then moves to walk away.

Shiro: It's okay... it's just a fever I think... she's sleeping maybe she'll get better... you can come after school tho, I'm gonna stop by my friend's house before I go home...

Shiro hands me his house key and smile before walking away.

The school ends and I pick up my stuff and head to Y/N's house. I open the door and put my bag on the sofa before walking to Y/N's room. I open the door to see her sleeping soundly. I check her temperature she still has a slight fever.

Rengoku: get well soon Y/N... I'm gonna be here...

I kiss her forehead and moves back. I place my hand on my pocket, feeling the small bump from a small velvety box. I was planning to do something today but she's sick.

Rengoku: I guess... I must wait a little more...

■3rd Person POV■

"I will fulfill my promise in another life"

Y/N opens her eyes as the ray of the setting sun flash on her face.

Rengoku: Y/N... you're awake...

Y/N looks at the source of the voice. There Rengoku is leaning against the window of her room, with a cup of coffee.

Rengoku: sorry... I made myself a cup of coffee...

Just then when Y/N stares at him, she looks at the reflection on the window and sees the Rengoku with the white robe and flame pattern for a sec.

Then something floods her head. Y/N holds her head and crouches on the bed. Rengoku who sees this puts the cup in his hand on the table and comes to her side.

Rengoku: Y/N! Y/N! Are you alright? Y/N?

Rengoku put his hands on her shoulders. Y/N suddenly being hit by a surge of memories. Then she looks up at Rengoku, tears coming out of her eyes.

Y/N: Kyou... juro... sama...

Rengoku was startled to see her cry and got worried.

Rengoku: Y/N what's wro-

Rengoku hasn't finished talking when Y/N lunges at him and circling her arms around his neck.

Rengoku: Y/N?

Y/N's body is trembling as she cries on the crook of Rengoku's neck. Rengoku places his hands on her back trying to calm her down, still doesn't know what actually happens to her.

Rengoku: Y-

Y/N: you said you'll come back... (sobs)

Rengoku feels his heart skips a beat and he tries to pushes Y/N back a little, to see her face. Tears stream down her face nonstop and she finally looks up and stares at him.

Y/N: you said...(sobs) you'll come back and make me your wife... you (sobs) promise me that... but (sobs) why...

Rengoku's eyes widened and he abruptly pulls Y/N back into a hug.

Rengoku: you... remember?

Y/N places her arms around him and hugs him back tightly as if she's afraid of letting him go.

Y/N: yes... (sobs) I remember... I... love you Kyoujuro san... then... and now...

Rengoku tightened his arms around her and buries his face on the crook of her neck.

Rengoku: I'm sorry... sorry for leaving you.... sorry for not coming back...

Y/N snuggles close to him.

Y/N: you lie... you should have come back to take me as your wife... instead... I found you with a hole in your stomach... and I... can do nothing... I'm sorry...

Rengoku: It's not your fault... okay... not yours...

Rengoku pushes Y/N back and wipes her tears away. He's so happy that she remembers, though she's kind of mad because he left her.  But now, in this time, they don't have to worried about the danger of facing demons.

Rengoku: Y/N... I... still want to fulfill my promise... can I do it now?

Y/N watches as Rengoku pulls out a red velvety box from his pocket. Her eyes widened by that. Rengoku flicks the box open, showing a beautiful ring. Y/N's chest feels tight.

Rengoku: so please... don't be mad at me okay? Will you... be my wife?

Y/N cries and lunges to hugs Rengoku again, sobbing on his chest.

Y/N: I... always wanted to... yes... please...

Rengoku hugs Y/N and pulls back to put the ring on her finger. He smiles and kissed the tears away from her face.

Rengoku: I love you Y/N...

Y/N: Kyoujuro san... I... love you too...

The two leans in and about to kiss when the door is open. The two look at Shiro who's stunned in the doorway. Seeing her sister practically on his teacher's lap on the bed. His face turns red and he slams the door close.

Shiro: GOSH DO THAT AFTER MARRIAGE WILL YA!!! AT LEAST LOCK THE DOOR!

Y/N's face turns fifty shade of red and Rengoku is amused by this and pulls her close to him then shout.

Rengoku: WELL I'M ABOUT TO MARRY HER SOON!

Y/N looks up to see Rengoku who's smiling happily. She too is happy to be with him the person that she loves in the past and so is it now.

Just like what he said...

Rengoku does fulfill his promise though it was in another lifetime. And the two will be happy with each other by their side.
